Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi Undergoes Major Sanitising; China Mention Removed
Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi undergoes major changes with China references removed amid Ministry review.

The much-anticipated film Maatrubhumi, starring Salman Khan and Chitrangda Singh, has reportedly undergone significant revisions before its release, with major content changes made to the storyline.
Film Renamed and Reworked
Originally announced as Battle of Galwan, the project was later retitled Maatrubhumi. The film is based on the 2020 India-China conflict but has now been restructured following feedback from the Ministry of Defence.
As per reports, the makers have removed direct references to China in the latest version of the film. The changes reportedly aim to align the narrative with official concerns regarding sensitive geopolitical depiction.
Major Reshoot and Story Adjustments
A significant portion of the film has reportedly been reshot, with nearly 40% of the content altered. The revised version includes additional fictional elements such as romantic subplots and character backstories to soften the narrative tone.
Director Apoorva Lakhia and Salman Khan are said to have worked on restructuring the film before resubmitting it for clearance.
Ministry Review and Ongoing Concerns
Despite the changes, the Ministry of Defence is still reportedly reviewing the updated cut. While the new version avoids mentioning China directly, it remains unclear how the neighbouring country is portrayed within the story.
The film is currently awaiting final approval, and its theatrical release timeline remains uncertain.
Release Delay Likely
Earlier reports suggested a possible release date around May 15, 2026, but the ongoing revisions and clearance process may push the film further.
What’s Next for Salman Khan
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is expected to begin work on his upcoming film with Nayanthara under director Vamshi Paidipally. He is also reportedly attached to a superhero project backed by Raj & DK.
With multiple projects lined up, Salman Khan continues to remain active even as Maatrubhumi faces delays in its release journey.
