Priyadarshan Criticizes Bollywood’s Entourage Culture: “People Come On Set, Do Nothing, Make Money”
Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan calls out Bollywood’s entourage culture, saying large groups on set often hinder his work. He is actively preparing for three upcoming films, including Bhooth Bangla, Haiwaan, and Hera Pheri 3.
Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, whose career spans over four decades and more than 100 films, has openly criticized the entourage culture prevalent in Bollywood. In a candid conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared how the presence of large groups of people around actors can disrupt filming and exhaust directors.

He explained, "I only get exhausted seeing the people around actors. On a floor, if I am working with three actors, I will see thirty people who are doing nothing and just standing around. I cannot see my visuals through the camera. They are blocking my view. I have never seen this in any other industry."
He continued, "So many people come onto the set, do nothing, and still make money. This is draining. I hate it. It’s the one thing I truly dislike about Bollywood."
Upcoming Projects
Despite his frustrations with entourage culture, Priyadarshan remains busy with three upcoming films starring Akshay Kumar:
- Bhooth Bangla: A horror comedy featuring Akshay Kumar, Tabu, Wamiqa, and Paresh Rawal, set to release on April 10, 2026.
- Haiwaan: Starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, with the team actively sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses from the shoot.
- Hera Pheri 3: The highly anticipated sequel sees the return of the original trio—Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty—and is expected to go on floors in 2027.
